The BIG Adventure to Colorado

Moving to Colorado had been talk for a very long time and then before I knew it, it was time to pack up and leave California. I could not believe that 4 months had flown by and it was time to go. I was looking forward to being with Ruven again but I of course was also sad to go because I would miss my family and friends so much. Thanks to my Mom and Dad, I was able to pack EVERYTHING (yes, that's right...everything) before Ruven came home to help us move so we were ready to pack everything into the giant Penske truck on Saturday.

'

We woke up at the butt crack of dawn and hit the road. Avery started out in my car but then soon realized that sitting in "Papa's Truck" (the moving truck) was much cooler. So we strapped her seat in and she loved it.

The view from the car was amazing! I couldn't stop starring at the scenary...well when I wasn't sleeping that is! We stopped at Vegas stateline for breakfast, somewhere in Utah for lunch and then we stopped for the night in Green River, UT for the night. We ate at the lovely Tamarisk restaurant and then setttled in for the night at our hotel. We woke up really early again and made our way to Colorado.
We finally made it to Colorado before the "big storm" came (which turned out to be nothing) and unloaded everything into the storage unit and the apartment. Luckily I had my Mom, Dad and sister Kelly to help put everything away, hung up and cleaned up. Thank goodness they were here to help because I don't know what I would have done without them.

One FInal Disney Adventure

So before we left California, my sister Sarah was nice enough to arrange for us to go to Disneyland for free....well the tickets atleast but that is SO expensive now a days! Anyway, we were fighting the weather that day and kept our fingers crossed for the entire morning hoping that it wouldn't rain on us. We lucked out and it only got cold towards the end of our day. Avery is getting the age were she recognizes characters and gets "somewhat" excited when she sees them. From a distance, the characaters are wonderful and she loves them. Once she is more less than 6 feet away from them, they are not as neat. Me being the mean Mommy that I am, I stood in line and made her meet the characters...I know, I am so mean. Being that it was kind of crappy that day, the lines to meet the characters were really short which was great cause it didn't give her much time to think about being afraid of them.

Despite the look on her face, Minney Mouse is one of her favorites!

We walked thru Mickey's house in Toon Town and met Mickey at the very end...she wanted NOTHING to do with him.

While in Toon Town, we played with all the hands on toys and houses. I think my Mom has a few pictures of me doing the same thing in the jail.

After playing in Toon Town, it was time to ride some rides. Avery is obsessed with driving so I knew that Autopia would be a BIG hit with her. After waiting in the longest line we had to wait in (which was only about 10 minutes) it was time to finally drive. Auntie Kelly was nice enough to let Avery drive and she LOVED it!

Disneyland just recently brought back the Michael Jackson 3D show, Captain Eo. I LOVED this as a kid and the thing I remembered the most was the Queen's finger nails...really long and scary looking. Avery was getting cranky so I thougt maybe the show would calm her down. She thought the glasses were funny and kept playing with them. She didn't wear them inside but ended up falling asleep in there due to the bouncing around it does. Never thought I would say this but, thank you Michael Jackson for making my daughter fall asleep!

After a quick bite to eat at our favorite place, Pizza Port ( I worked a LONG time ago and since then got everyone hooked on it) we made our way thru the rest of the park. Sarah used to work with the animals at Disneyland and wanted to go check out the Petting Zoo. I wasn't sure how Avery would do but she did really well. She ended up practically laying on the animals...such a goober.

Sarah used to drive the trolleys down Main Street as well and I couldn't honestly remember ever riding the trolley down Main Street in all the years I have been going. So we went for a ride...

After a long day and lots of money spent on food, treats and prizes, it was time to leave. We had a wonderful time and was a great way to spend quality time with family. I know Avery had a great time and we can't wait to come back to California and go again!

Long Time, No Post

So...I have failed at keeping this blog up to date and current with what is going on with us here in Colorado. I do have one reason as to why it has taken me a while to do this and that is because our computer completely ripped in half (it's a laptop) and we had to send it back to Dell and recently got it back. Now that the computer is all better, I PROMISE to post more and of course take more pictures.

Ta-Da

And so it begins...I have FINALLY caved in and signed up and setup a blog and facebook (bare with me, still a work in process) Haley gracious took me in and trained me on how to be an official blogger (thank you for letting me come over last night and do this with you...the dinner and bath for Avery was really helpful too :) ) I am making a promise right here, right now...Today April 15, 2010...I will be as consistant as possible and post/blog about as much as I can. I know that keeping this current with everything that is going on (don't worry, I will try to remember to do pictures too!) will help keep everyone in the loop with our lives out in Colorado. If I don't, I know I will have Haley on my butt and remindng me to keep up with my posts :) I know Colorado may seem far away but this blog will hopefully help fill in some of that mileage gap. So PLEASE be patient with me and if things look or sound weird, please let me know so that I can fix it. I am new at this.
